The biggest advantage of an AED in the workplace is simple - it could save a life.

Jarvis has always been committed to staff and customer safety to provide a safe and healthy environment, and with that in mind the decision was made to purchase defibrillators (which are suitable for both adults and children) and have them installed at various locations within the Jarvis Group.

Very few people survive a cardiac arrest without swift assistance and the use of an AED might be the difference between life and death. You do not need specialised training; however, our first aid officers have received instruction from St John as part of their first aid training.

Anyone can use a Defibrillator as they are very easy to operate. It is just a matter of opening the Defibrillator and it will instantly give you voice prompts to follow. It doesn’t skip ahead and will keep repeating the instruction until each step has been completed, making it a reassuring guide in what is a stressful situation. You cannot harm anyone by using a defibrillator, you can only help save their life.

When calling triple 000 to seek emergency assistance, the operator will direct the caller to use an AED if it is available.
