Skoda lifts lid on flagship Peaq electric SUV

SKODA has unveiled its new all-electric flagship, the Peaq, a seven-seat upper-large segment SUV that becomes the Czech brand’s biggest and most technologically advanced model to date.

 

Set to sit at the top of Skoda’s expanding battery-electric vehicle line-up, the Peaq is said to offer a driving range of more than 640km, lounge-inspired cabin appointments, and a raft of firsts for the brand.

 

At 4874mm long and riding on a 2965mm wheelbase, the Peaq eclipses the Kodiaq (+116mm length, +174mm wheelbase) in size, becoming Skoda’s first entrant in the upper-large electric SUV segment and its new halo model.

 

Skoda CEO Klaus Zellmer said the Peaq represents a new benchmark for the brand, broadening its appeal while retaining the space, practicality, and value for money that customers expect.

 

“The Peaq represents a new reference point for Skoda as our brand flagship, bringing together our core strengths in a way that reflects where we are heading as a company,” he said.

 

“It expands our appeal to new customer groups, while continuing to deliver the qualities our customers value – space, practicality, and strong value for money. At the same time, the Peaq plays a central role in broadening our fully electric offering.

 

“It is part of a growing portfolio that gives customers genuine choice across different powertrains, allowing them to select the solution that best fits their needs – today and in the future. This is how we continue to make Skoda relevant for an even wider audience.”

 

Built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ architecture, the Peaq will be offered with two battery packs – a 63kWh unit and a flagship 91kWh battery, the largest ever fitted to a Skoda EV.

 

Three powertrain variants will be available. The rear-wheel drive Peaq 60 produces 150kW and offers more than 450km of range, while the rear-wheel drive Peaq 90 and all-wheel drive Peaq 90x deliver 210kW and 220kW respectively.

 

The Peaq 90 claims the headline range figure of more than 640km, while the 90x is rated at over 610km.

 

DC fast-charging capability allows both battery packs to recharge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 28 minutes, while bidirectional charging supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-home (V2X), and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality.

 

Skoda says the Peaq also offers towing capacities of up to 2000kg (braked).

 

The Peaq’s exterior introduces several new design features for the marque, including flush door handles, a panoramic roof with electrochromic ‘dynamic shade control’ and a drag coefficient of just 0.249 despite its substantial dimensions.

 

Inside, the Peaq adopts a lounge-like approach, highlighted by a 13.6-inch vertically mounted infotainment display – another Skoda first – and an optional ‘relax package’ featuring ventilated and massaging front seats, ergonomic leg rests, and a dedicated wellbeing application.

 

A new 16-speaker Sonos premium audio system with 755W output has also been developed specifically for the model.

 

Practicality remains a key focus. In five-seat guise, the Peaq offers a class-leading 935 litres of luggage capacity, supplemented by a 37-litre front storage compartment. Even with all seven seats in place, Skoda says 299 litres of boot space remains.

 

Technology highlights include ‘travel assist’ 3.0, ‘top area view’ 360-degree parking assistance, an augmented reality head-up display, and a suite of standard safety systems including front assist, side assist, crossroad assist and predictive adaptive cruise control.

 

Ten airbags, including rear side airbags and a centre airbag, are standard across the range.

 

A Sportline variant will be available from launch, distinguished by black exterior detailing, unique interior trim and standard LED matrix headlights.

 

The Peaq is expected to play a central role in Skoda’s electrification strategy, completing its battery-electric line-up from the top end and attracting new customers to the brand as it pushes towards becoming one of Europe’s top three-selling automotive marques.

 

While Skoda Australia has yet to confirm local pricing or specifications, the Peaq is expected to arrive Down Under in late 2026 or early 2027, becoming the Czech brand’s largest, most expensive and most technologically advanced model to date.

 

GoAuto understands the Peaq will be sold alongside the Kodiaq SUV, giving Skoda a competitor to the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 (from $119,750 plus on-road costs) and Kia EV9 (from $97,000 + ORC).
